The casino

The Casino de Montreal is one of the largest in Canada — a multi-level Loto-Quebec floor with thousands of slots, a deep spread of table games and electronic gaming, all inside the striking former French and Quebec pavilions of Expo 67. For scale and setting together, few floors in the country compete.

Where to stay

There is no hotel on Ile Notre-Dame, so this is a casino to pair with the city: downtown Montreal, roughly ten minutes away, offers everything from grand old railway hotels to sharp boutique rooms, and the metro and bridges make the island an easy there-and-back. Choose your base in the Old Port or downtown and treat the casino as a night out.

Dining & extras

Several restaurants and bars keep the floor self-sufficient for an evening, and the surrounding Parc Jean-Drapeau — with its greenery, river views and summer festivals — is a genuine reason to come early. The island setting is part of the appeal.

Location & value

The casino sits on Ile Notre-Dame in the middle of the St. Lawrence, about ten minutes from downtown by car or metro. There is no room bill on site, so the value question is really about the city hotel you choose — and Montreal has a room at every price.
